How my Keto journey began…
25 Years. That is how long I have passionately made baked goods in my home. Like any good baker’s home, my kitchen is always filled with trays of treats. The heavenly smell of cakes, bread and food always filled my home with love.
Unfortunately, with my love for food I gained a huge amount of weight, at my worst ever I weighed a 167 kg. I was also a heavy smoker and at the age of 45 my health started to fail me. I was constantly in pain my knees could not handle the weight and sleeping was a nightmare I had to sleep elevated as I battled to breath.
October 2018, was the turnaround point for me. I decided to start taking a walk every morning and afternoon. I also started my Keto journey the same month. It was extremely hard I remember being only able to walk 1 km. I was so over weight it was a challenge to be persistent with my walking. I walked the same distance daily for a week every day. Eventually after a week I increased the distance by .5 km.
By the end of 4 months I was doing 8 km a day and I started doing strength training as well. I was still smoking but on the 7th February 2019, I smoked my last cigarette. I went from 30 cigarettes a day to none at all. Becoming a non-smoker was the best decision I ever made.
It is now a year later and my weight is down to 87kg, I am a non-smoker with a new direction in my life. I got to this point with Keto, will power and a lot of persistence. That is how Sharon’s Keto Bakery began its journey.
